What We Do

The Committee is responsible for the ethical and scientific review of research involving human participants conducted by Amref Health Africa and by external institutions seeking ethical approval to undertake research in Kenya. Through a rigorous, transparent, and independent review process, ESRC ensures that all submitted research protocols comply with national regulations, international ethical guidelines, and recognized scientific standards.

Ongoing Oversight

Beyond protocol review and approval, ESRC oversees the continued ethical conduct of approved studies through post-approval monitoring, helping ensure that research remains compliant throughout its lifecycle. This oversight strengthens accountability, protects research participants, and upholds public trust in health research.
